Great Lakes Compact (MN, WI, MI)

Fire Danger: Fire danger was mainly low to moderate with one unit reporting high in the UP of Michigan on 7-23.

Fire Weather: Cool and dry conditions will affect the compact into Thursday evening as high pressure dominates over the Great Lakes.  Areas of showers and storms will affect the western half of the compact Thursday night into Friday as a trough of low pressure advances into the Mississippi Valley.  Mainly dry conditions will persist into Friday over the eastern Great Lakes.  Areas of showers and a few storms are the forecast to spread into the eastern Great Lakes Friday night into Saturday and persist over the northern parts of the compact into Sunday. 

 

 

Big Rivers Compact (IA, MO, IL, IN)

Fire Danger: Fire danger was low to moderate.

Fire Weather:   Cool temperatures and mainly dry conditions will affect the Big Rivers as high pressure dominates the central U.S.  Showers and storms will affect the northwestern Big Rivers Thursday night into Friday as a trough of low pressure advances into the Mississippi Valley.  Additional showers and storms are expected to spread through the compact this weekend with the greatest threat over the north and east.

 

 

Northeast Compact (NY, MA, CT, RI, VT, NH, ME)

Fire Danger: Fire danger was mainly low to.

Fire Weather:  A few showers and storms will linger along the Maine coast into Thursday morning behind a departing cool front.  Cooler and mainly dry conditions are forecast into Saturday.  Rainfall is expected to return Saturday night into Monday.

 

 

Mid-Atlantic Compact (OH, PA, NJ, DE, MD, WV)

Fire Danger: Fire danger was low to moderate.

Fire Weather:  A few showers and storms will linger along the coast through Thursday morning behind a departing cool front.  Cooler and mainly dry conditions are forecast Thursday night into Saturday morning.  Rainfall is expected to return Saturday afternoon into Monday.

Fuels/Fire Potential

Parts of the Big Rivers are forecast to continue drying out over the next week.

Resources

Resources are expected to be adequate across the Eastern Area this forecast period.
