Great Lakes Compact (MN, WI, MI)

Fire Danger:  Fire danger was mainly low to moderate.

Fire Weather:   Areas of snow will linger over the UP of Michigan into Thursday afternoon as a low lifts northeast out of the compact.  Another low is forecast to lift out of the Northern Plains Friday night into Saturday and through the Upper Mississippi Valley.  Areas of precipitation will affect the Great Lakes from west to east this weekend into Monday evening as the low’s cool front drifts through.  Strong south winds are forecast over the western Great Lakes ahead of the low Friday night into Saturday.  Mainly dry conditions will prevail Tuesday into Wednesday.

Big Rivers Compact (IA, MO, IL, IN)

Fire Danger: Fire danger was moderate to high with six units reporting very high in Indiana on 4-16.

Fire Weather:   A few showers or storms may affect the northwestern and central Big Rivers later Thursday into Friday morning as a weak cool front drifts through.  Otherwise mainly dry conditions are forecast into the weekend.  Gusty south winds will affect the northwestern Big Rivers Friday night into Saturday.  Scattered showers and a few storms will affect the compact from northwest to southeast later Sunday into Monday night as a cool front sinks through the Mid-Mississippi Valley.  Mainly dry conditions are forecast Tuesday into Wednesday morning.

Northeast Compact (NY, MA, CT, RI, VT, NH, ME)

Fire Danger: Fire danger was mainly moderate with one unit reporting very high in Massachusetts on 4-16.

Fire Weather:  Mainly dry conditions are forecast into Monday allowing fuels to dry out in snow free areas.  The next chance of precipitation is expected Tuesday into Tuesday night.

Mid-Atlantic Compact (OH, PA, NJ, DE, MD, WV)

Fire Danger:   Fire danger was mainly low to moderate.

Fire Weather:  Mainly dry conditions are forecast into the weekend as high pressure prevails.  This will allow fuels to dry out quite a bit and elevate fire potential.  The next chance of precipitation is expected to advance through Monday night into Tuesday night from west to east.
